Urdd Concert: A concert took place last Tuesday organised by Mari Major MBE in aid of the forthcoming Urdd Eisteddfod and the BCBC Mayor’s charity.

The Mayor of BCBC, Coun Reg Jenkins and the Mayoress were present. I attended as High Sheriff’s Ambassador.

The venue was Arch Bishop McGraff School, Brackla, a huge capacity turned out to enjoy this concert.

Children from Ysgol y Ferch or Sger Corneli, Llanngewydd school together with HerronsBridge school and their orchestra, took part.

Retired headteacher Susan Davies was compare, current headteacher Angela Davies did some introductions also.

This was a most enjoyable concert, the singing and the orchestra were quite outstanding.

Big Music Project: On Thursday at the Hi Tide, Porthcawl, an amazing group of young muscians gave a concert in aid of The Wildmill Youth Music Club.

Some 200, mostly young people, attended this concert, we had dinner their too. Coun Reg Jenkins and the Mayoress were present.

Again I was in attendance as High Sheriff’s Ambassador. This was music for young people who had even written their own songs.

The musical talent here was really second to none, watched by lots of proud mums and dads.

Cornelly Community Council Clerk, Dawn Evans’s son was one of the guitarists, he is Connor McCarthy, his band was Sarasota.

Sarasota was founded by Anna Arrieta, a great guitarist hershe helped organise the evening concert along with dad Raul Arrieta.

Afon Y Felin School: Afon y Felin Primary School, in Cornelly, has recently joined a group of local schools to achieve the Silver School Mark from Sustrans Cymru, the charity that encourges children to take more journeys by walking.

Headteacher Ms Nicola Williams, is very proud of their achievement.

Bin Bags: April 1 is fast drawing closer – that is the date set for a reduction in bin bags per household.

You must remember that the number of bags per household – that’s one bag per week for a family of four, was decided by members of the public, not by BCBC.

Luncheon Club: This is held every Tuesday and Thursday at Cornelly Community Centre, from 12.15pm for 12.30pm. Cost is just £4.50 for three courses plus tea or coffee and biscuits.
