World music and arts festival finds new home

-

A POPULAR festival of world music and arts has moved home and will be coming to Pencoed this summer.

The Kaya Festival has been staged at Margam Park for the last few years, but this year will be on the Pencoed College campus fields, which also host the Bridgend County Show and, just for 2017, the Urdd Eisteddfod.

The directors of Kaya Festival, ex Wales rugby international Gavin Thomas and Pencoed youth worker Mark Holmes, have expressed their excitement at the move.

Gavin said: “Pencoed is a fabulous location and keeps the festival in the heart of our community, which we have built up over the last couple of years.

“We loved our time at Margam. We have found a site where we can really grow the festival within our local community.”

Kaya prides itself on providing diverse, fun and family-friendly music, arts and entertainment from across the globe.

In past years the festival has hosted headline acts including Craig Charles, Asian Dub Foundation, Tinchy Stryder, The Brand New Heavies and Judge Jules.

The Kaya Festival of World Music and Arts 2017 is set to take place between Thursday, August 3 and Monday, August 7.
