JANE Maine lifted the Gareth Edwards Trophy at Royal Porthcawl with consistent scoring resulting in her carding a winning score of 38 Stableford points.

She finished five points clear of Janet Hopkin while Geraldine Judd was a further two points back.

In a March Stableford competitio­n, matching par eight times secured Jane David victory on 34 points.

Bridie Llewellyn was runner-up on 31 points while one point further back came Emer Disley.

And the March Medal tournament was won by Jane Frampton, who signed for 95-17-78 (three pars).

Runner-up Heather Atkin had five pars on a card of 91-10-81 with Ann Richards third via 109-2584.

The low gross round came from fourth-placed Joanne Pearce whose 905-85 score contained eight pars.

Pam Williams was fifth with 99-13-86. back victory over Ceri Mohajer (four pars).

Third-placed Marlene Morgan got 32 points, as did Fauve Birch (birdie on hole two and nine pars).

Gwyneth Parsons scored 31 points for fifth place courtesy of an outstandin­g eagle two on the 14th hole.

Mags Birch and Cora Edwards both signed for 31 points with Sue Richards on a 30-point card got the only two of the day, holing out for birdie on hole 15.

And ninth-placed Mary Ellis carded a splendid birdie on the penultimat­e hole in her score of 29 points.

Next on the scoreboard were five players on 34 points – Dave Roderick, Brian John, Mal Brooks, Arthur Cole and Keith Carpenter.

Four other putts for two were sunk on the day, and they came from Ada Asquith and Jonny McEachen (both hole four), Brian Austin (hole eight) and John Rogers (hole 11). ninth round of the Winter Order of Merit.
