Economics and media dishonest

- CN Westerman Brynna

NOBODY in their right mind believes that civilisation could or should be built upon dishonest science or mendacious mathematics.

The most dopey, and even the most wicked citizen, would agree that deliberate lying must play no part in those fundamentally valuable studies. Truth must be the bedrock of any human society which can survive into the future.

But the economists who come out of our universities all know that a prominent feature of our global economic system is the fact that eight people possess as much of the planet’s resources as 50% of the world’s poorest inhabitants, 3.5 billion people. Even an idiot could not pretend that this is an efficient system.

However, these educated graduates are determined never to mention the truth when they lecture us, lest the more intelligent citizens might begin to take a thoughtful and critical interest in the whole rotten and inefficient structure.

But it shows how unjustly these market forces are employed to make the rest of us into stupid accomplices to, and victims of, a corrupt economic system, by operating a deceitful and privately owned national media which has no intention to speak the truth, and yet is our only window on the world.

Our form of distorted civilisation is based upon just these supports, a dishonest economy, a dishonest media, and dishonest advertising.

It is a wonder that we have any honest children growing up, after they have struggled through years of those ambushes of wilful lies. Why not insist on truth?
