ABERAVON GREEN STARS ........................... 13 TONDU ......................... 40

THE Green Stars certainly arrived at the office ahead of the league leaders and on a perfect day for rugby, raced into an early 10-0 lead, writes Mike Sully.

A penalty from scrum half Aaron Davies opened their account before a great move down the left saw winger Lloyd Lewis grab the game’s first try with Davies adding the conversion.

Some good handling through midfield brought Tondu’s first try by hooker Owen Bayliss which was converted by Josh Tatchell.

Another penalty from Aaron Davies made it 137 before a Rhys Jones try on the stroke of half time brought the visitors within a point.

The second half was a different ball game though, Tondu not only arrived at the office, they had their collar and ties on.

First came a sensational solo try from full back Matthew Murphy after collecting the ball from a loose kick, he engineered a clever kick ahead to collect and cross for the try.

The reliable Tatchell added the extra points.

Blind side flanker Terry Saunders then grabbed a close range try before a flowing movement from their own half saw second row Adam Harris sail over for a memorable try.

But there was no denying try machine Sam Grabham. Some great inter-play from the backs brought a corner try.

All the tries were converted by Josh Tatchell.

Tondu have the short journey to Nantymoel next but surely now the Champagne must already be on ice.
