Angry dad films dog mess to force action

A MAN got so cross about dog poo in his street he went out and filmed it and put it on YouTube.

Owen Batstone, 31, said having moved his family from Cardiff to Ogmore Vale, he became aware the problem of owners not picking up after their pets was much worse in his new village.

Worse still, said the dad of two, is that it keeps getting on the wheels of the pram or their shoes and gets walked into the house.

“It’s just everywhere,” said Owen, who lives on Corbett Street.

“We have two little boys and they are stepping in it and the pram wheels are going through it.

“We also run a mums and tots group in the Calvary Baptist Church and it gets into the church on the wheels of the pushchairs.

“My hope in putting the video online is that the council put more dog poo bins out because there aren’t any in my street and also put more signs up.

“It’s gross. The video I have made shows just a typical day.”

A Bridgend council spokesman said: “As the vast majority of owners dispose of dog waste in an appropriate manner, it is always frustrating to see the mess that is left behind when irresponsi- ble people fail to pick up after their pets.

“A council officer will be visiting this location to assess the situation and we will also soon be launching a new anti-dog fouling campaign.

“The campaign will begin in Porthcawl where a new information post will be set up to offer a sup- ply of free pet waste bags and encourage more dog owners to ‘bag it and bin it’.”
