MORE than 800 Easter eggs were donated for Bridge FM’s Easter Egg Appeal 2017.

A mammoth 828 eggs were collected during the appeal that is sponsored by Sainsbury’s Bridgend and HMP & YOI Parc.

The appeal ran from March 20 until April 2 at the Sainsbury’s store and shoppers showed off some Easter generosity by donating extra Easter eggs after finishing their shopping.

And it wasn’t just supermarket customers who donated. Local businesses Broughshire Waste Metals Ltd, Bridgend Ford and FRF Motors also pitched in.

On April 4, all of these eggs were put inside a G4S van with a very special Easter bunny helper and delivered to local charities.

The charities receiving eggs were Y Bont, Bridgend County Borough Council, The Wallich, Women’s Aid, Mental Health Matters, Children’s Ward (Princess of Wales Hospital), Special Care Baby Unit (Princess of Wales Hospital), Bridgend Young Carers, Ty Cornel, The MC Centre and the Salvation Army.

Such was the generosity of the people donating, there were some eggs left over after.

These were taken to Ty Hafan and The Child Contact Centre, which is the official charity of Sainsbury’s Bridgend.

A spokesman for the Easter egg appeal said: “We greatly appreciated the effort everyone put in this year and look forward to doing it again next year.”
