Concert ‘best yet’ for school
PENCOED Comprehensive School enjoyed its best ever Easter concert, according to the school’s head teacher.
There were some outstanding musical performances from the pupils with pieces like Jupiter, Summertime and Jurassic Park capturing the audience.
Head of music Rhian Jenkins put together a varied show with the help of the music team.
The school’s orchestra put on a fantastic performance with “a warm tone and excellent intonation” according to their teachers. This performance was a testament to the pupils for the hard work they had put in over many gruelling weeks of rehearsals.
Aside from the orchestra, there were many notable individual and group performances from student singers, dancers and instrumentalists.
A particular hit with the crowd was the guitar and drum ensembles, which received a raucous reception.
Head of drama Kay Smith worked closely with Pencoed’s feeder primary schools in the school’s transition programme.
Pupils from Llanharan, Croesty, Pencoed and Coychurch also presented engaging and attractive performances, ranging from harp and trumpet solos to choir and dance items.
The night culminated in a final performance from the school’s choir. They presented the lucky audience with a medley of songs from Les Miserables, which proved an excellent end to the evening’s entertainment.
In a statement issued by the school congratulation were sent to everyone who took part with head teacher David George saying this performance was “the best yet”.
