Eggstra special help for cats
AN EASTER Eggstravaganza Fete held at Cats Protection’s Bridgend Adoption Centre raised over £2,000 and helped rehome nine cats for the charity.
The event, held on Saturday, was a great success, with more than 350 people attending the funfilled day.
The Easter egg hunt and hook-a-duck were a big hit with the children, while adults enjoyed browsing the stalls and relaxing in the sun enjoying burgers, homemade cakes and refreshments.
The eggstravaganza was a great opportunity for people to meet and make friends with the adorable cats in the charity’s care desperately in need of loving homes.
Audrey Inkpen, 96, who used to volunteer for the centre and is a long standing supporter, said: “The centre is my favourite place to visit. I love coming here on open days and seeing all the cats”.
Bethan Potts, deputy manager who organ- ised the event, said: “We had great support on the day so we’d like to thank everyone who came along and supported us. If we didn’t receive such wonderful support from our local community, so many more cats would needlessly remain homeless.”
Susan Dobbs, centre manager, said: “We had lots of lovely feedback from visitors to the event. It’s great to see everyone enjoying themselves. We are very grateful for the support we receive from the public and local businesses, the day wouldn’t be a success without their contribution.”
Cats Protection’s Bridgend Adoption Centre is part of a national network of more than 250 volunteer-run branches and 32 centres that together help around 200,000 cats and kittens each year. The charity’s vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.
