NATHANIEL CARS WELSH LEAGUE DIVISION THREE

LLANTWIT MAJOR ...... 3 CHEPSTOW TOWN ....... 0

DURING the business end of any season, three points are more important than performances, writes Tony Poole.

That’s how Llantwit Major viewed this comfortable Windmill Lane win over Chepstow who offered precious little.

It extended an unbeaten league run to 13 games since suffering their only defeat – a 2-1 loss at Panteg last October.

But more importantly, it left the Windmillers just four points shy with six games in hand of table-topping STM Sports.

However, Llantwit Major are now entering the phase of the season that has engulfed them in a degree of dread.

They now have to unload a fixture backlog, and this week they are involved in three games in the space of just six days.

Tonight (Wednesday) Llantwit Major visit Treharris Athletic Western; this Saturday STM visit Windmill Lane in a topof-the-table clash, and they host Bridgend Street on Tuesday.

That’s a punishing schedule in anyone’s language, but at least Chepstow didn’t sap energy levels, as arguably they were the poorest team seen at Windmill Lane this term.

Nevertheless it took Karl Lewis’ side 50 minutes to break them down with the killer blow produced by a Rob Jones cut back.

Rhys Llewellyn was on to it in a flash, and he went on to record a fifth goal of the campaign.

That took the sting out of the situation and in the 70th minute the cultured head of Shaun BarneyWilliams provided the brains.

His knock down ran for substitute Gareth Davies, who also got a fifth goal of the season.

That was game, set and match Windmillers, but they still blew Chepstow away with another goal.

This time fox in the box Luke Cox got on the end of a lengthy Jack Landsdown goal kick to create mayhem.

A defence-splitting pass to Gareth Davies led to Llantwit Major schoolboy Sammy Snaith getting a fourth goal for the club.
