PENYBONT .................... 9 PORT TALBOT TOWN .. 0

JOSH Jones was a hattrick hero, as Penybont buried Port Talbot Town under a goal avalanche during this Southern Section clash at the Kymco Stadium, writes Tony Poole.

Back in September, the Bont Babes had to work hard to card a 1-0 win at Victoria Road but in the rematch, goals flowed like vintage wine.

Jones sent them ahead in the 10th minute, and as a contest the game was already over.

Connor Goldsworthy doubled the lead while further firsthalf goals came from Matthew Symons and Josh Jones.

Ahead 4-0 at the changeover, a bizarre own-goal from goalkeeper Corey Kingdom then stretched the lead.

Josh Jones completed a hat-trick in the 65th minute, and they rounded things off with a Rhys Jordan double strike and another goal from Matthew Symons.

But in the Welsh League Reserve Division Cup, Bont lost 5-2 at Goytre United with Nicholas Ivey getting both Bont goals.

The sides then met two days later at Glenhafod Park – this time in the Welsh League Reserve Division (West) – and on this occasion the Port Talbot suburbanites ran out 5-3 winners.

Again Ivey crept on to the Bont goalscoring sheet, and was accompanied by Lloyd McVeigh and Ben Cripps.

Bont returned to Welsh Premiership Development action at Risca United last Sunday, winning the day 5-1.

The goals on this occasion came from Cornelly United star Rhys Alden (two), Kieran Davies, Joshua Bogue and Matt Symons.

Also on Sunday, Penybont Ladies beat Newcastle Emlyn, 2-1, at home in the Welsh Women’s League.

On target for Bont were Ashton Morgan and Shona Davies.

But in the Wales Veterans League Over45s, Penybont lost 4-2 at Cwmbran – Gareth Jones and Peter Morgan both netted for the Bampy Bonts.
