WET and windy conditions last Sunday led to just 13 members contesting a White Box Medal tournament at Southerndo­wn.

However, the winner Nathan Chilcott handed in a remarkable card of 72-1-71 to win by a shot from Daniel Jakeway, who signed for 77-5-72.

Chilcott drove the 347yard par-four ninth hole, getting the ball to within three feet of the cup to card an eagle.

He followed it up with another two on the parthree 10th after previously going birdie on the opening and fourth holes while 10 par putts were also sunk.

Third-placed Andy Farquarson carded 82-9-73, and Ian Park went around in 85-8-77.

On the Ladies scene, Jan McPherson shot 41 points to take a First Weekend Stableford competitio­n on countback.

A two on the 10th hole set up a victory over Ali Churchouse, who went birdie on the 13th and carded nine pars.

Third-placed Jenny Jones shot 37 points while Glamorgan County champion Helen Calvert – playing off an away handicap – came in with 35 points.

Her round contained a birdie on the 11th green, and she matched par on 10 occasions.

Three points back came both Helen Evans and Sian Webb.
