LLANTWIT MAJOR ...... 3 CWM WELFARE ............ 0

GAME two of a four matches in eight days run for Llantwit Major threw up an anything but run of the mill Windmill Lane victory over seemingly doomed Cwm Welfare, writes Tony Poole.

Having opened this demanding spell two days earlier with a 1-1 home draw against Ely Rangers, the Windmillers found new energy against the side from Beddau, who have one foot in Highadmit South Wales Alliance Premier Division.

Rob Jones and Jonny Fletcher were the architects of Llantwit Major retaining possession skilfully without making the big breakthrough.

That was also the case when the half-time whistle sounded, and it eventually took them 65 minutes to breakdown an obstinate defence.

Rhys Llewellyn nodded down a Rob Jones corner and just as fox in the box Luke Cox was outfoxing Cwm, he was taken out.

The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, and Rob Jones obliged with the subsequent penalty to move on to the 16-goal mark for the campaign.

Ten minutes later, Glyn Davies left his marker for dead and squared the ball for substitute Lee Jones (on for Gareth Davies) to slot home a fifth goal of the season.

To all intents and purposes that was game, set and match Windmillers – but they still had another goal up their sleeves.

An 86th-minute free kick from Rob Jones picked out the Llantwit lighthouse that is Shaun Barney-Williams, and he flashed home a third goal for the club.

That made it two goals in as many games for the former Bont darling, who got the equaliser earlier in the week against Ely Rangers.

This completed the double for the Windmillers, having won 5-0 at Cwm Welfare on day one of the season.
