DIVISION 2
WEST CENTRAL
CWMGORS ................... 19 TONDU ......................... 46
THE champions got off to the best possible start to their final game when Aled Jones touched down after a solid scrum gave the backs the platform to break the Cwmgors defence, writes Mike Sully.
Another solid set piece allowed full back Aled Jones to grab the first of a hat-trick midway through the first half before flanker David Griggs added a third two minutes later.
Josh Tatchell kicked the conversion to make it 22-0 to the visitors. A break by centre Sam Grabham in his own 22 then saw a wonderful length of the field move with Aled Jones on the end of it for his second try. Jordan Roderick grabbed what was already a consolation try for the home side on the stroke of half-time.
The second half started slowly until two sensational tries from flanker David Griggs both solo ef- forts, one of which started on the half way line and secured his hat-trick, Tatchell converting the latter.
Cerith Dennard then got one back for the home side with Steff Rees adding the conversion, be- fore another move that started in their own 22 saw Aled Jones secure his hat-trick.
Tondu closed their account with a debut try for replacement centre Stuart Young following another length of the field move from a back division on fire, Steff Rees managed a last minute try for Cwmgors which he converted but the day belonged to Tondu with the backs taking most of the plaudits on a day made for running rugby.
