ELY RANGERS .............. 2 LLANTWIT MAJOR ...... 4

LLANTWIT Major completed an incredible four matches in eight days sequence with this victory over Ely Rangers at Station Road, writes Tony Poole.

Having drawn 1-1 with Ely at Windmill Lane last month, Karl Lewis’s weary troops once more responded to his rallying call.

Though there were fears the game would be called off – as Station Road was hit by a light shower just ahead of kick off – the Windmillers were up for it.

The front three of fox in the box Luke Cox, top scorer Rob Jones and Lee Jones caused Ely problems galore.

Their best chance of a lead goal came just before the break when Jonny Butler served one of his Rory Delap long throws.

Shaun Barney-Williams headed it on, but a Rhys Llewellyn header was a tad too close to the goalkeeper.

During the second half, the midfield trio of Jonny Fletcher, Darren Robinson and Butler dished up exceptional displays.

And they went ahead in the 50th minute, Lee Jones releasing hungry fox Cox, who was felled just when he scented a goal.

Rob Jones made no mistake from the penalty spot – moving on to 17 goals for the campaign – and it soon became 2-0.

Cox slid in Rob Jones, and he crossed for Llantwit lighthouse BarneyWilliams to flash home a header.

However, the best strike of the night was yet to come - Glyn Davies found Lee Jones and a 30-metre effort sailed home.

Back came Ely to reduce arrears to 3-1, but the Windmillers weren’t finished with the capital suburbanites.

A quickly taken Robinson free kick fell for substitute Sammy Snaith, who bulged the top corner of the net.

Though Ely once more responded, it was another capital night for the men from Windmill Lane.
