KPC Youth & Community: A charitable organisati­on that provides a safe and nurturing environmen­t for children and young people.

Events include: Messy Play Sessions: Tuesdays (term time only), 10.30am-11.30am. £2 including a cuppa. Ideal for babies that can sit up unaided up until age 2 years.

Zumba Classes: Thursdays with Michelle, from 10am-11am.

Rebound Fitness: Sessions for adults are held on Tuesdays at 6pm and Fridays at 9.15am. £1.50 per session.

Walking Rugby: Held on Thursdays, 9.30am for a 10am start. All ages and abilities welcome, male and female. £1.50, followed by cuppa & chat.

Festival of Learning: Pop in for a cuppa and some friendly help on Wednesday, May 24, 31. Or on June 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 2pm-4pm. Also on and Tuesday, June 13 and 20, from 1pm-3pm.

Cwtch Cynffig: For 50 years Kenfig Hill has provided a meeting place for people with disabiliti­es and their carers and the Cwtch Cynffig project continues their good work every Thursday.

Activities include arts & crafts, chair based exercise, health and wellbeing sessions.

Morning sessions run from 10am-12.30pm and Afternoon sessions run from 1.30pm-4pm.

Each session costs £5 which include refreshmen­ts. Lunch is also provided at an additional cost of £2.50.

Kenfig Hill and District Male Voice Choir: The Choir’s Annual Concert will take place on Saturday, July 8, at The Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl, from 7pm.

Festival Week: This year the theme is Flower Power. Festival week commences on Saturday, June 24 until Sunday, July 2, with a Fun Day on Saturday July 1.

Community Bake It: Pyle Community Council, Mynydd Cynffig Women’s Institute and the Talbot Community Centre are organising their second Community Bake It during Festival Week.

All entries must be taken to the Talbot Community Centre on Tuesday, June 27, from 8am-12noon.

The judges will be members of the WI who will commence judging at noon. Entrants and members of the public will be allowed back into the hall from 12.30pm2pm to view the prize certificat­es.

The Talbot Community Centre: Quilting and Sewing – come along for inspiratio­n and help with your projects Mondays from 2pm-4pm.

Do you want to learn how to use a computer, tablet or iPad? Two computer classes are available at The Talbot, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, from 10am-12noon.

Whist players are needed for the Partner Whist Drives at The Talbot on Wednesdays, from 6.30pm-8.30pm.

Talbot Day Trippers will be visiting Saundersfo­ot and Pendine on Tuesday, June 20. They will be leaving the village at 9am and will be home at 6pm. £12 per person for members and £13 per person for non-members. Call 01656 749754 to book tickets.

Reading Groups: Join one of the many reading groups in Pyle Library.

The Night-Owls Group meet on the third Thursday of the month at 7pm.

The Daytime Group meets on the last Thursday of the month at 2pm.

The Teenage Group (12-19 years old) meets on the second Thursday of the month.

The Junior Reading Group (8-12 years old) meet on the 2 Tuesday of the month.

Bounce and Rhyme meets on a Friday at 10am.

Mothers’ Union: Meet at the Parish Hall in Pyle every third Tuesday of the month at 7pm, from April – October. Call Mrs Brookes on 741077.

Memory Lane Café: Are you looking after someone who is very forgetful or has been diagnosed with dementia? Come and meet people in a similar situation at Pyle Life Centre every Friday. from 9.30am-11am.

Mynydd Cynffig Primary School: Well done to all those who took part in the recent inter-school basketball and rounders matches at Corneli Primary School.

The ‘A’ rounders team won by 7-0 with Aaron Thomas, Tia Lynch (2), Channay Williams, Will Ronan (2) and Cameron

Davies all scoring; the ‘B’ rounders team drew 1-1 with Lewis Watkins scoring.

The ‘A’ basketball team won by 40 points to 16 with Matthew Watkins (5), Mali Perry (4), Scott Cox (3), Finley Turner (3), Lloyd Thomas (3) and Jet Downing (2) all scoring; the ‘B’ team won by 16 points to 4 thanks to baskets from Corey Knight (2), Ewan McAndrew (2), Samantha Walmsley (2) and Mali Perry (2).

Many congratula­tions to Dewi Powis (1st) and Thomas Powis (3rd) on winning gold and bronze medals respective­ly in the Year 3 & 4 boys’ race at the final meeting of the 2016-17 Bridgend Schools Cross-Country season held at Bryntirion Comprehens­ive School recently.

Year 6 pupils are invited to attend the Youth Club based at Cynffig Comprehens­ive School every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30pm8.30pm where staff offer games, football, pool, social events, hairdressi­ng taster sessions and a variety of other activities.
