ST MARY’S

-

ST MARY’S Senior Section started their week off well with a decisive 7-1 home victory over their counterparts from Gower Golf Club.

Following a recent run of three defeats, Section Captain Mike Feeley was delighted with the change in fortunes and is now confidently looking forward to the next match.

Several days later, the Section’s normal weekly competition was replaced by their annual Members and Guests event. 25 pairs teed off on a very wet morning for this very popular occasion playing a Stableford pairs better ball competition. Better than par scores can be expected in a better ball format and with the fairways still giving good run in spite of the nearly continuous, but light, rain, some excellent scores were indeed posted. First place was taken by Owen Maund and Barry Lewis with an outstanding 48 points. Second placed were Gareth Thomas and Lee Jefford with 43 points, one ahead of the third placed pairing of Selwyn Williams and Mike Austin. Captain Mike Feeley and son Dai settled for fourth with 41 points. The nearest the pin prize on the par three seventh was won by Barry Lewis. The Captain’s Charity fund benefited from the sum of £107 which was raised in the traditional raffle with prizes donated by both members and guests.
