Village should be celebrating Eisteddfod

- Mrs M Lewis Cefn Nant, Pencoed

I AM spitting feathers over this. I cannot understand the mentality of some of the local councils.

A huge event coming up in Pencoed – the Urdd Eisteddfod.

Pencoed again has been honoured to host this brilliant event.

An event not only bringing culture, music and art for all the children and a much needed lift to the economics of the host village shops. Llanharan looks absolutely lovely with bunting and signs and decorations welcoming the Eisteddfod and the people who will be coming from far and wide.

Pencoed, the host village, has a few puny bits of bunting near the square and puny bits of bunting around the sign of Pencoed Rugby Club.

Pencoed doesn’t deserve to be chosen to host.

Pencoed councillors, hide your heads in shame.

However, Pencoed Primary is all kitted up and the laundrette on Hendre Road has also made an effort off their own back – trouble is they are out of the way and won’t be seen unless people stumble upon it.

?? PETER BOLTER ?? Preparations are nearing completion for the Urdd National Eisteddfod, which takes place on the Maes in Pencoed, between May 29 and the June 3, but our correspondent is disappointed at the ‘puny bunting’ in the village
