TONDU Wheelers Cycling Club completed the gruelling 107 miles from Cardiff to Tenby Cycle Event, also know as the “CARTEN”.

The “CARTEN,” which is an annual event, supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ( JDRF) Charity.

The event was a huge success for the Tondu Wheelers and they certainly put the club on the map with the support they had from families along the route while riding in a peleton.

The Cycling Club was set up in April 2016 by a few local ex sportsmen with a rugby and football pedigree who got the cycling bug after hanging up their boots.

The club, which uses Tondu RFC club as their HQ, has gone from strength to strength and now boasts nearly 50 members with men and women from all backgrounds with various abilities and experience ranging from members who have completed an Ironman event to complete novices.

The club is family based who pride themselves in teamwork and helping eachother to achieve their ambitions as well as supporting local charities and people in need.

During the past 12 months, many fundraising have been done and the club has supported “Y Bont” in Bridgend as one of their chosen charities.

The club thanks their local sponsors of “Bike It” in Aberkenfig, GT Developments, Combicare, Jehu Construction and SCM Landscaping Services and are on the look out for other local sponsors who would like to support the club for the forthcoming season.

The club is hoping to have a Triathlon Section in the not too distant future and it also hopes to encourage a younger element into the club through events and a junior section.
