LLANGENNEC­H won the toss and elected to bowl first. Maesteg’s Andrew King (49) got Maesteg off to a solid start, with similar contributi­ons from Martin Wilkshire (42), Callum Walters (56) and Tom Harding (22), Maesteg scored 207-7 in their 50 overs.

Michael Bailey and Callum Walters removed both openers early before Michael Jones (94) stead- ied the ship. Martin Hood (10-1-29-0) and Ewan Lambert (10-2-38-0) kept the pressure on with tight bowling but dropped catches in the field at vital times cost Maesteg dearly with Llangennec­h reaching the target with 3 overs to spare.

MAESTEG Celtic inserted their hosts and some good all round bowling got them all out for 139 after 42.5 overs.

Sam Owen scored 42 and John Jones 36.

The Celtic bowling was:

Chris Hicks 7-3-17-2, Luke Wilson 6.5-1-25-2, Daniel Millers 7-1-29-2, Rhodri Thomas 9-2-28-2, Morgan Griffiths 10-029-1 and Louie Cirotto 3-0-7-1.

Celtic got the runs in 36.2 overs with Nick Poole making 39, Gareth Hopkins a masterful 54 not out which included nine fours. Division Five:

CELTIC decided to bat and posted 189-9 off their 40 overs with James Richards scoring a fine 68 and Paul Morris 39.

Drefach Seconds were then dismissed for 120 in 35 overs. Division Six East:

MORRISTON batted first scoring 167-6 from their 40 overs with wickets shared between Andrew Jones (8-1-18-2) and Kurt Vincent (8-0-39-2).

Maesteg replied with a solid opening partnershi­p between Ellis Horrigan (31), Kurt Vincent (28), Lewis Fencott top scored with 42 and Lee Morgan made 40no. Maesteg won having reached their target off 34 overs.
