WWII Re-Enactment: Crowds flocked into Bridgend Town centre recently and experienced a tremendous day out with the re-enactment of the 1940s WWII.

The weather wasn’t at its best but 100s turned out to wander around the town.

The star attraction was a replica of a Spitfire Aircraft which was situated near to the steps on Dunraven Place; there was musical entertainment most of the day outside Aroma and Barclays Bank; a look-a-like Sir Winston Churchill and Field Marshall Montgomery wandered around the town, also local historian John Dunkley-Williams, from Ty-Ardd, led three Historic Walks around the town; students from Bryntirion Comprehensive School displayed Rationing; Bridgend Lions Club were dressed as evacuees;, Ogmore Valley Silver Band played music from the 40s for most of the day in Wyndham Street; Bridgend Allotments displayed their produce; Bridgend Branch of the British Legion; SAFA Soldiers Armed Forces Association and Bridge FM were also present, along with the vintage vehicles, and displays and a photographic exhibition were held in Carnegie House (former library).

Thanks to Pastor Rachel Wheeler, from Bridgend United Church, for her special services held at our War Memorial.

Thanks also to all who put a lot of work in organising the day and special thanks to Bridgend Town Council.
