MAESTEG won the toss and elected to bat first.

Maesteg lost early wickets with Andrew King being removed (3) by Cadan Lewis which brought Martin Wiltshire to the crease who was also bowled by the same bowler for(4). Callum Walters joined debutant opener Kurt Vincent at the crease. Walters and Vincent put one great partnershi­p of 144 before Vincent on (73) was caught giving Lewis his third wicket. Walters went on to score 109 hitting twelve 4s and two 6s. A late partnershi­p between Thomas Harding (29no) and Ewan Lambert (25no) took Maesteg score to 277-5 off their 50 overs.

In reply Pontyberem were never in the hunt with Craig Evans being their top scorer with (36).

Pick of the bowlers for Maesteg was Martin Hood 10-3-25-4, 2 wkts each for Callum Walters and Martin Wiltshire and one each for Michael Bailey and Jack lewis.

Pontyberem were bowled out for 159 off 34 overs.

CELTIC decided to bat and ran up a useful total of 253-6 off their 50 overs. Nick Poole scored 79, James Richards 41, Matthew Rogers 32, Gareth Hopkins 27 and Matthew Davies 32 not out.

Pick of the home bowlers was Rhys Harries with 10-0-37-2.

Sccott Davies managed 30 and Craig Richards 25 but Celtic were always on top and got them all out for 154 in 38.2 overs. The Celtic bowlinng was:
