Golfers Wanted: KPC are holding their Annual Charity Golf Day at the Grove Golf Club this Friday, June 23.

Entry is £160 for a team of four players with refreshmen­ts and a buffet meal afterwards We also have some great evening entertainm­ent on the night with Phil & Ash.

Need a clear-out? Why not donate a bag of unwanted quality clothes/ shoes/hats to KPC? We do a lot of fundraisin­g via eBay and clothes sales to help raise funds for KPC so all donations really appreciate­d!

Messy Play Sessions: Tuesdays (term time only), 10.30am-11.30am. £2 including a cuppa. Ideal for babies that can sit up unaided up until age two years.

This a fabulous opportunit­y for toddlers to explore and learn about textures through play while their parents, grandparen­ts or carers have a chat and a cuppa, socialise and make new friends.

Zumba Classes: Thursdays with Michelle, from 10am-11am. Sessions are free but any voluntary contributi­ons will be appreciate­d. All abilities welcome.

Rebound Fitness: Sessions for adults are held on Tuesdays at 6pm and Fridays at 9.15am. £1.50 per session.

Walking Rugby: Held on Thursdays, 9.30am for a 10am start. All ages and abilities welcome, male and female. £1.50, followed by cuppa & chat.

Festival of Learning: KPC are holding a series of drop-in sessions where you can find out more about things like how to create an email, how to save money online, and being safe online,etc.

Pop in for a cuppa and some friendly help on Tuesday, June 20, from 1pm-3pm, and on Wednesday, June 21 and 28, from 2pm-4pm.

Kenfig Hill and District Male Voice Choir: The Choir’s Annual Concert will take place on Saturday, July 8, at The Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl, from 7pm.

Festival Week: This wonderful annual event in the Pyle and Kenfig Hill Community is drawing near.

This year the theme is Flower Power as 2017 celebrates 50 years since the Summer of Love.

Festival week begins this Saturday, June 24 until Sunday, July 2, with a Fun Day on Saturday July 1.

Thank you to everyone who works so hard to make this event such a success for us all.

Below are some of the fabulous events that have been organised for the area:

Gala Concert: Pisgah Chapel presents the Opening Night Gala Concert for Festival Week with the Sounds Familiar Mixed Choir. Entry is free and everyone is welcome to Pisgah Chapel, Kenfig Hill, this Saturday, June 24, at 7pm.

Coffee Morning: Come along to Llys Ton for their Festival Week Coffee Morning with singing from Mynydd Cynffig Primary School Choir next Tuesday, June 27, at 10.30am.

Songs of the Swinging 60s: Dig out your hippy beads and your flares and re-live your youth or just be entertaine­d with the iconic songs of the swinging 60s! As part of the Kenfig Hill and Pyle Community festival week come along to St Theodore’s Church on Thursday, June 29 at 7pm to a concert performed by the acoustic duo ESP and singer songwriter Bronwen Lewis. Tickets cost £8 from Theo’s Charity Shop, Bridge Street, Kenfig Hill, or from Festival Committee members or by calling 01656 742 703.

Cwtch Cynffig: For 50 years Kenfig Hill has provided a meeting place for people with disabiliti­es and their carers and the Cwtch Cynffig project continues their good work every Thursday.

Activities include arts & crafts, chair based exercise, health and wellbeing sessions.

Morning sessions run from 10am-12.30pm and Afternoon sessions run from 1.30pm-4pm.

Each session costs £5 which include refreshmen­ts. Lunch is also provided at an additional cost of £2.50.

Call the Talbot Community Centre on 01656 749754 or come along on their Open Day which is taking place during Festival Week on Thursday, June 29, from 11am-1pm.

Summer Fayre: The Parish of Pyle and Kenfig are holding their summer fayre this Saturday, June 24, from 1pm in the Parish Hall, Pyle. Tickets cost £1 which include a cup of tea or coffee. Children are free. All are welcome.

Community Songs of Praise: Everyone is welcome at St James’ Church, Pyle, this Sunday June 23, from 6pm.

Community Bake It: Pyle Community Council, Mynydd Cynffig Women’s Institute and the Talbot Community Centre are organising their second Community Bake It during Festival Week.

All entries must be taken to the Talbot Community Centre on Tuesday, June 27, from 8am-12noon.

The judges will be members of the WI who will commence judging at noon. Entrants and

members of the public will be allowed back into the hall from 12.30pm-2pm to view the prize certificat­es.

She was one of the many who walked the Big Walk from Cardiff Millennium Stadium to Kenfig Hill Rugby Club, 30 miles in all, to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cymru. Well done Sarah. Bethel Community Church: Breakfast is served on Tuesdays from 10am-12noon. Bethel Community Church is situated in Pwllygath Street, Kenfig Hill. I recently met some fabulous people over breakfast and was very moved by the incredibly warm welcome I received. The Talbot Community

Centre: Quilting and Sewing – come along for inspiratio­n and help with your projects Mondays from 2pm-4pm.

Do you want to learn how to use a computer, tablet or iPad? Two computer classes are available at The Talbot, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, from 10am-12noon.

Whist players are needed for the Partner Whist Drives at The Talbot on Wednesdays, from 6.30pm-8.30pm.

Talbot Day Trippers will be visiting Saundersfo­ot and Pendine on Tuesday, June 20. They will be leaving the village at 9am and will be home at 6pm. £12 per person for members and £13 per person for non-members. Call 01656 749754 to book tickets.

Reading Groups: Join one of the many reading groups in Pyle Library.

The Night-Owls Group meet on the third Thursday of the month at 7pm.

The Daytime Group meets on the last Thursday of the month at 2pm.

The Teenage Group (12-19 years old) meets on the second Thursday of the month.

The Junior Reading Group (8-12 years old) meet on the 2 Tuesday of the month.

Bounce and Rhyme meets on a Friday at 10am.

Mothers’ Union: Meet at the Parish Hall in Pyle every third Tuesday of the month at 7pm, from April – October.

All are welcome to attend their Summer Lunch which will be held at The Grove next Tuesday, June 27, at 12noon for 12.30pm. Tickets cost £13.50.

School: Year 6 pupils are invited to attend the Youth Club based at Cynffig Comprehens­ive School every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30pm8.30pm where staff offer games, football, pool, social events, hairdressi­ng taster sessions and a variety of other activities.

Call Senior Youth Worker Roger Went on 07904 924 799. Pil Primary School: Reduce, Reuse Recycle: Pupils enjoyed a lively and informativ­e afternoon of drama and songs on Wednesday, led by the Gregory Brothers.

The performanc­e was organised by Bridgend Council and based on the importance of reducing waste, reusing and recycling in the correct containers. Reading Stars: Congratula­tions to Mia-Elise Lewis and Tia Parobij-Tudor who came runners up in a County wide reading quiz organised by Bridgend Libraries. The girls put on a star performanc­e, answering all twenty questions in their first round to leave them in the final against Garth.

Nursery News: The Nursery would like to announce the arrival of their four chicks that have hatched over the past weeks while in their incubator. The pupils are now busy learning to feed and care for them. They have been surprised by how much they have grown over the half term and how noisy they have become. Remember to watch their progress on Twitter. Extra-Curricular Activities: The school is proud to share the news that two pupils, namely Annabelle Brooks and Madison Williams have recently starred in the Bridgend Youth Theatre production of Annie.

The performanc­es took place on Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3, at Porthcawl Pavilion.

A number of pupils also visited Kent during that weekend as part of the Revolution­ise Dance School.

Well done to all the pupils who competed and achieved trophies for their dance performanc­es.
