Councils call for help to make town better

-

THE public is being urged to help councillors “make Bridgend town centre a better place to live, work and visit”.

Bridgend County Borough councillors along with Bridgend town councillors for the three town centre wards of Morfa, Oldcastle and Newcastle are planning a number of public focus groups.

The series starts with a session called Bridgend First Impressions on Friday, July 7. It will ask participants to look at the town centre through the eyes of a visitor and make suggestions as to how it can be improved.

After meeting at Carnegie House at 6.30pm small groups will be sent off to various access points to the town, including the train station, bus station, car parks and popular pedestrian routes and asked to survey their journey back into town through the eyes of a visitor who is unfamiliar with the town and recording the positive and negative points they discover.

This will be followed by a short meeting at Carnegie House where refreshments will be provided and participants will be able to hand back their completed surveys, dis- cuss their findings and get the chance to meet their town and county councillors.

The feedback received during the event will allow an action plan to be drawn up which can be worked on by Bridgend County Borough Council, Bridgend Town Council and the BID Company, CF31, as well as highlighting any actions which require attention from external agencies.

Anyone wishing to take part is asked to contact Coun Nicole Burnett at cllr.nicole.burnett@ bridgend.gov.uk or phone 07773050830.
