BRIAN Marling shot a sizzling 40 points to run out winner last Saturday of a Yellow Box Stableford at Southerndown.
His countback win came over Paul Piggot, who shot an amazing eagle on the sixth hole to place alongside nine pars.
The winning Marling card contained a two on hole 10 along with further birdies on the sixth, ninth and 13th greens.
He also carded 10 pars and three bogeys, and survived number-crunching after a no-return on the home hole.
Richard Davies came third with a countback 39 points from D Lindsey Edwards while further down the scoreboard came Glen Webber, Alun Reed (both 38 points) and 37-point finishers Matthew Thomas and Phil Monaghan.
Par 36-point rounds came from M Bull, Frank Bradshaw and J Bevan.
In Division Two, Marcus Goldsworthy claimed a countback win on 38 points from Martin Smith and D T CunninghamJones.
Fourth place went to Glenn Howells courtesy of 36 points.
Last Sunday a high quality Junior Stableford competition produced a countback win on 36 points for Ben Davies.
A birdie on the sixth hole and 12 pars was enough to sustain the challenge of Jack Wiggins, who birdied both parfives and matched par 10 times in his 36-pointer.
Third-placed Morgan Grace got 35 points with an amazing Grace card containing a birdie on 17 and 13 pars.
But a blob on the parfour 16th hole cost him the tournament.
Jonathan Loo got a two on hole five in a 32-point return for fourth position while Daniel Jakeway was again in fine form.
An eagle on the par-five sixth hole along with birdies on holes 13 and 15 and four pars were the highlights on a 32-point card.
Sixth-placed Lewis Mainwaring playing off an away handicap got 29 points (two birdies) while Finlay Mullins fired 27 points and Daniel Roderick 25.
