TWENTY-FIVE people found themselves in custody following a 24-hour police operation throughout Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Suspected drug users and dealers, outstanding suspects and those believed to be involved in motoring offences were all targeted as part of Operation Blue Salt on Wednesday, July 12.

A police spokesman said five people have since been charged in connection with offences including drug supply, offences against the person, theft and fraud. At least six others have been released under investigation.

A Porsche Cayenne, and quantities of cannabis and cocaine were among the items seized during raids carried out by the priority policing team.

The spokesman said that in the Bridgend sector alone, five outstanding suspects were apprehended, with one charged and two released under investigation.

A drugs warrant was also executed on Coity Road, leading to one man being arrested and later released. Police said a quantity of drugs and associated paraphernalia were recovered.

On the roads, Porthcawl neighbourhood policing team issued a number of traffic offence reports (TOR), including six for motorists driving without seat belts, two for learners driving without relevant plates to notify other drivers, and two for defective tyres. Two vehicles were also seized and the drivers reported for summons for driving without a licence or insurance.

The spokesman said a drugs warrant executed in Maesteg saw an 18-yearold arrested and subsequently charged in connection with drug supply charges.

Sean Griffiths, from Pontycymmer, has since appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court where he admitted possessing cannabis with the intent to supply and possession of cocaine. He was remanded in custody until sentencing on August 27.

Similar action was carried out elsewhere in the Barry, Vale of Glamorgan and Maesteg sectors, with each sector also turning their attention to local schools, with PCSOs talking to pupils about indecent image sharing, cyber-bullying and internet safety.
