Youngsters get tips from tennis stars’ mum

-

SHE guided her sons to huge success and now tennis coach Judy Murray has been giving tips to another set of siblings entering the game.

Heidi Hales, three, and sister Eliza Hales, five, from Bridgend, met the mum of Andy and Jamie at Barry Leisure Centre as part of her She Rallies initiative to get more girls involved in the game.

The pair were taken along by their Bridgend Tennis Club coach Leanne McLellan, who is keen to spread Judy’s message.

Leanne said: “I trained to become a She Rallies ambassador in March and completed the Miss Hits course for girls aged five to eight in which we provide a fun environment to learn tennis skills.

“Each session lasts 45 minutes and is full of fun games. Each session is based on a Miss Hit character with their own tennis shot, along with tricks, games and dance routine.

“After spending the day with Judy going through some games with the children I went on to be trained in teen girls, the aim is to increase the number of teen girls trying tennis and keep them interested.”
