Mynydd Cynffig WI: The members held their monthly meeting on July 11 in the Talbot Centre – at our new time of 2pm.

Apologies from our President and Secretary who were absent due to illness.

Christine read out the minutes and Enid, our treasure, signed them off.

Correspondence read out and the annual summer trip finalised.

We're all looking for fine weather on August 8, as were all going on an open top bus around Cardiff.

Tea and biscuits were enjoyed, then our speaker Mrs Yvonne Rees told us about her very feisty aunty from Clacton-onSea, who she visited on a regular basis until she passed away.

Also, the efforts she had to go to trying and succeeding to purchase through a family auction pieces of furniture and china her aunt had wished her to have after her death.

She had brought several pieces of china with her and we all agreed her efforts were well rewarded.

There is no speaker next month (our annual trip) but in September our speaker is Mr David Alexander – his topic is King Mongkut and a Difficult Woman from Rhyl. We can't wait, as it sounds very intriguing.

Call in and you can hear Mr Alexander for yourself – we'll supply the tea and biscuits!

Christine Callaghan
