LARGE numbers of Yankee Candles and cash have been stolen from a garden centre.

Burglars struck at Ewenny Garden Centre near Bridgend in the early hours of Sunday.

A spokeswoman for the popular business in Ewenny said their CCTV footage shows three people, who had their faces covered, spent two hours in the garden centre.

She said they also stole cash from the safe.

“We discovered it when we opened up,” she said.

The spokeswoman said the thieves stole the large and medium-size scented candles from their main display near the cafe entrance.

She added that as yet, they don’t know the exact number of candles taken or the exact amount of cash.

Police forensic units were at the garden centre on Monday.

As well as plants and candles, the recentlyrefurbished Ewenny Garden Centre has a large gift shop, Coast Coffee, and offers landscaping and construction services.

Also in the garden centre is a Metal Zoo, featur- ing large sculptures of jungle animals.

The spokeswoman urged anyone offered Yankee Candles for sale to get in touch with South Wales Police.

A police spokeswoman said they are investigating the burglary and are appealing for anyone who has information to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1700286003.
