THE final of the Division One singles was played earlier in the season at the BUSC club.

The earlier knockout stages saw the following 16 players progress to the finals.

A 14-dart leg from Dan Brian was the highlight at the Caeffatri as he booked his final spot along with Tony Rees, Jarad Vanagas, Phil Jones, Gavin Buffton, Tim Williams, Mathew Martin and Gary Hodgkinson.

At the Social, 15 and 17-dart legs from Russell Wilks and a 15-dart leg from Ray Johnson saw them progress alongside Tim Jones, Mike Doyle, Andrew Hermoile, Alwyn Collins, Steffan Coombes and Nick Winn.

On the finals night, it’s fair to say that the earlier rounds were a bit nervy as missed doubles let some players down but the semi-finals did not disappoint. The first saw Russell Wilks hit a 157 out in a 15dart leg followed by a 122 out in another 15-darter to beat Tim Jones 2-0. The other semi-final saw Gavin Buffton go through to the final as he beat Tim Williams 2-0.

In the final, it was Gavin Buffton who drew first blood in a best-of-five match. Russell levelled things, hitting a 180 in a 14-darter in the second leg and took the third leg.

Gavin fought back taking the forth leg to set up a sudden-death decider which Russell took with another 157 out in a 15dart leg to take the Division One singles title.

In Division Two, a 156 out and a 180 from Jason Grant saw him progress to the final alongside Dai Smith with Steve Jones and Gethin Still book- ing the other final spots at the Cabo. The other final spots were taken up by Mal Hookings, Clive Hughes, Noyle Burt and Oliver Ladbrooke-Davies.

On finals night, it was team mates Dai Smith and Jason Grant who battled through to clash for the Division Two title.

Dai took the opening leg with Jason claiming the second. Both players took another leg each to make it a last-leg decider. It was Dai Smith who eventually came out on top as he took the final leg to claim the Division Two singles title.

In the Wally Duckfield singles, the following players came through the opening rounds to reach the final played at the Caeffatri finals.

A 119 out from Ray Morris saw him in to the next round along with Dai Amos, Jeff Phillips, Mike Doyle, Billy Absalom, Russell Wilks, Peter Taylor and Tim Pound.

At the other venue a 117 out from Ben Smith put him into finals night with Graham Dowle, Mal Hookings, Nick Winn, Ray Johnson and Jarad Vanagas.

Best darts of the night came from John Picton hitting a 180 in a 12-dart leg missing his first dart at a double in what could have been an 11-dart finish, closely followed by Gerwyn Harris who after hitting two 180s, found himself on double top after 10 darts, eventually going out in 14.

On finals night, it was Ray Johnson and Billy Absalom who came through to play in the first semifinal which Billy took 2-1.

The second semi-final went to Russell Wilks who beat Ray Morris 2-0. Ray hitting a 180.

In to the final, it was Russell who came out on top taking it 3-0 to claim the Wally Duckfield title. Billy hit a 180 in the final his second of the night taking the runners-up spot.
