August Activities: Garw Valley Links Community Church will be running sessions for children and young people throughout August in His Place, next to Spar in Oxford Street, Pontycymer.

Children aged 6 - 12 years of age are invited to come along every Thursday in August from 11am-12 noon for craft, games and chat where free drinks and biscuits will be provided.

Younger children are also welcome to come and play as long as they are accompanie­d by an adult/carer.

Young people aged 11 -18 are invited to pop into His Place for tea/coffee and toast any Wednesday in August between 6.30pm and 8pm.

Calon Lan Visitors’ Centre: Garw Valley Community Council are pleased to advise that the above mentioned visitor centre will be open at weekends for the remainder of the school holidays.

Opening hours are from ten until four on both Saturday and Sunday, during which time teas, coffees, snacks, and cold drinks will be made available. Toys, Murphy’s Boat, Contraband, Slightly Dazed, Monkey See Monkey Do, Fair Warning Wales and lots more.

Tickets are now on sale at the Blaenogwr so get yours now before they sell out.

The Wyndham Pub: Poker Night every Tuesday, 8pm. Quiz and Play Your Cards Right, where you could have a chance to win £100, every Thursday from 9pm.

Nantymoel Ladies RFC: We are recruiting new players this season.

Taster training sessions are being held at 6pm on August 3, 10 and 17 at Nantymoel Park.

Come along and give it a try – it doesn’t matter if you’ve never played rugby before or don’t know the rules as qualified coaches will teach you all you need to know.

Nantymoel Boys & Girls Club: The club would like to congratula­te Lauren, Luck, Cameron and Declan on passing their Level 2 Youth Works course. Well done to you all from Byron, staff and all the children.

Boxing Club: Why not join the Nantymoel Armature Boxing Club every Monday & Wednesday for a Ladies Boxfit.

This is on the following nights from 6pm to 7pm with a charge of £4 each.

Boxing club address is Bethania Row, Ogmore Vale but the entrance is at the back on High Street opposite the NonPol Club.

Open Day: Just a catch up on last week’s article to say that Lydia & Clive Davies of Blackmill raised more than £1,100 on the open day itself.

Thank you to everyone who gave raffles and donations, etc.

We both sincerely would like to thank everyone again for the support that you gave us and hopefully we can do this again next year.

Ogmore Vale Community Tennis Club: Ogmore Vale has had two tennis courts, attached to the Ogmore Vale Bowling Club on Park Avenue, for several years, but are very rarely used.

We have two hard courts from which we will be playing social tennis every Tuesday, from 6pm-8pm and Sundays, from 10amnoon throughout the summer.

We will also be running two FAST4 Tournament­s each month which is a quick and exciting new format of tennis.

Social membership for adults is £25, seniors and juniors £15 for the year – this will give you full access to the club at any time.

Entry to tournament­s is £5.

We welcome all standards and are a relaxed and social group.

Tennis is a great way to get fit have fun socialise and compete anyone interested please message me back and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank You: I would like to say it was lovely to see the grass cut in Pwll Y Pant Cemetery, Ogmore Vale, and Blaenogwr Cemetery, Nantymoel. I hope that all the cemeteries have now been done too.

Adult Community learning: Adult Community learning are offering an Introducti­on to Drawing course starting in April which will be held in Nantymoel Memorial Hall.

The course will be five weeks long and involves experiment­ing with a variety of drawing materials, techniques, and processes.

Ladies Choir: Ogmore Valley Ladies Choir now have their practice night on Wednesday at Canolfan, Bethlehem, Commercial Street, Ogmore Vale. Starting at 7pm. All are welcome - over 18 years.

Pilates Class: Why not join the Pilates Class every Thursday night at 6.15pm.

This is held at Litchard Mission Church, Litchard, Bridgend.

These are suitable for beginners and intermedia­te.

Coffee Mornings: Christchur­ch Chapel Corbett Street, Ogmore Vale hold a coffee morning on Thursday, July 27.

As well as coffee, there will be a cake stall, book stall, china and clothes stalls and not forgetting a raffle etc.

It will be from 9.30am10.45am, so why not join them for a coffee and its free admission too. All welcome.

Blackmill Over 50s: Blackmill Over 50s meet at The Local Community Centre on Wednesday evenings at 7pm, always glad to welcome new members.

This is a social gathering and occasional­ly a trip to the theatre or a meal out is arranged.

Nantymoel Knitters Class: We are members of a Knitting Club who live in Nantymoel.

We meet twice a week at Dinam Close every Tuesday and Friday at 10am to Midday.

We are always looking for new members and all our efforts are to make things for charities.

If there is anyone who has any spare wool they do not want, we would be very grateful to receive it.

Nantymoel RFC Youth: Natymoel RFC Youth 40th Anniversar­y Reunion.

Following the success of the first event last year, the committee of Nantymoel RFC are delighted to announce that there will be another Youth Team reunion at the clubhouse on Saturday, August 19.

This will take place after the home match scheduled for that day and the event is to mark the 40th anniversar­y of the formation of the youth team in 1977.

All former players, coaches and committee members who have ever been involved with the Youth team from its inception to date are cordially invited to attend and share memories and anecdotes.

It was great to see former players travelling from far and wide to attend last year and we would encourage you to spread the news of this next event to those who are unlikely to be able to read this article.

Entertainm­ent will be provided during the evening, including comedian Steve Saint and this promises to be another enjoyable evening for all.
