Davies signs up to Riverboaters

-

NEW Caerau chief Adrian Shearan has appointed his back-up team, writes Tony Poole.

Back on the Riverboat scene from Port Talbot Town Academy is Robert Davies while Dafydd Pallesen and Barrie Morris will look after coaching duties.

Training takes place each Wednesday night at the Riverboat (6pm) and manager Shearan has thrown down the welcome mat for any new players.

Having back in May lost last season’s main strike-force pairing of Tom Walters and Chay Davies to Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Division One side Goytre United, others have felt the grass might be greener at Port Talbot Town.

Into that category fall centre-half Ryan Morgan, nippy winger Dylan Llewellyn, ox in the box Joel Joseph along with defender Lewis Bissmire and Shaun James.

However, Caerau are hopeful that some of the group might return to the Llynfi Valley.

That has led to them looking in alternative directions with Lewis Kingdon and Scott South arriving from Llangynwyd Rangers while Keane Watts is on trial from Maesteg Park.

During an opening pre-season clash with Cwm Welfare on the Cowbridge Comprehensive School 3G pitch, the Riverboaters lost 5-4.

Young Watts got two electrifying goals with the others coming from Kyle Dickenson and a Jack Page pile-driver.

Young Scott South was in top form, but Caerau did miss old hands like proper stopper Matt Rees, the prince of strikers Robbie Walters and golden boy Dale Price.

They then took on Cefn Cribwr Boys Club and ran out 3-0 winners on the back of goals from Kyle Dickenson, Lewis Kingdon and Robbie Walters.

The return of Price certainly pepped Caerau up against the Riders, and he brought out the best in 16-year-old Thomas Krause. At the back, the Riverboaters seldom creaked with Liam Lewis turning in a fine display along with Nathan Harris and Ricardo James.
