CHARITY FUN ON 90TH BIRTHDAY
CATS Protection Bridgend stepped back in time to celebrate the charity’s 90th anniversary.
A 1920s themed summer fete held at Cats Protection’s Bridgend Adoption Centre raised more than £3,500 and homed 17 cats and kittens for the charity.
The event was a great success, with more than 480 people going along. Special guests on the day were the Mayor of Bridgend, Coun Pam Davies with her consort Tudor Davies, Suzy Davies AM and Peter Hepburn, CEO of Cats Protection.
The event was a great opportunity for people to meet and make friends with the adorable cats in the charity’s care desperately in need of loving homes.
The team at the centre dressed in flapper costume in celebration of the 90th anniversary. There was plenty for everyone to see and do including a raffle, tombola, stalls, barbecue, refreshments and games.
Children were entertained with puppet shows, bouncy castle, pony rides and a special visit from South Wales Fire Service, plus the chance to sit in a fire engine.
Molly Hughes, deputy manager said: “We had great support on the day so we’d like to thank everyone who came along and supported us. If we didn’t receive such wonderful support from our local community, so many more cats would needlessly remain homeless.”
Cats Protection’s Bridgend Adoption Centre is part of a national network of more than 250 volunteer-run branches and 32 centres that together help around 200,000 cats and kittens each year. The charity’s vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.
