Choir needs new members to continue music in valley

A LONG-ESTABLISHE­D children’s choir is looking for new members to start next month.

Maesteg Children’s Choir has helped to fill the Llynfi Valley with song for the last three decades.

Musical director EnidSian Hughes said: “We are still continuing to make music in the valley and raise lots of money for charity through the support of choir members both past and present, parents and committee members.

“We are looking for new members to take the choir into the future and to continue the music in the valley.”

Shortly before its summer break started the choir staged its 31st annual concert at Maesteg Town Hall, where members were joined by Take Note.

Enid-Sian said both choirs opened the concert with Another Opening, Another Show and came back together for an Abba medley in the finale.

“It was a varied concert where the children’s choir sang a selection of Disney songs including See The Light from Disney’s Tangled and A Whole New World from Aladdin,” she said.

“Take Note sang Chandelier and Don’t Stop Me Now, among other songs.”

The accompanis­t for the was Anthony children’s choir was Rhian Jenkins and Lisa Norbury for Take Note.

Take Note’s musical director was Richard Norton.

Maesteg Children’s Choir resumes practice on Saturday, September 9, between 10am and noon in the crypt at St Michael’s Church in Maesteg.
