tition after a disappointing Six Nations. They also have third-ranked Canada in their group so if they are going to progress they will have to do it the hard way.

It was great for Allan Bateman and I to get invited to play for Aberavon past team against the Aberavon present team last Saturday. All for prostate cancer and to celebrate Aberavon chairman Andrew Vaughan John’s 60th birthday. The present team won 84-45. The past team were 44-5 down at half-time but we came back with a strong second-half performance and I was lucky enough to get over for a try. Neither Allan nor I played for Aberavon but I was conditioning coach there a few years ago under Simon King and Allan played there lots in the Neath v Aberavon derbies. They raised over £3,000 on the day for the charity, which is great news.

Congratulations to Maesteg RFC on winning the Tondu Ev’s7s. I’m sure it was another great day and all teams enjoyed.

Well done to Cardiff City on a good 1-0 away win against Burton Albion last Saturday in the Championship.

Swansea play their first Premier League game away at Southampton this Saturday. They’ve had a great pre-season and the club, under new manager Paul Clement, seems to be going in the right direction. I just hope they can start with a win.

Question: What do you think of Usain Bolt’s last race?

I was disappointed he didn’t win but his start was the reason he had a bronze medal. It’s nice for him to go out at the top. Good luck to him!
