Colour splash for Ty Hafan

AROUND 700 people took part in the Ty Hafan Rainbow Run at Porthcawl at the weekend – the event raised more than £50,000 last year.

AROUND 700 people added a splash of colour to Porthcawl this weekend when they took part in the Ty Hafan Rainbow Run.

Gathering at Sandy Bay where the 5km course had been laid out on the beach, the fundraiser­s took part in a vigorous warm-up session courtesy of BridgeFM and Ms.Fit.

The crowd was then blasted with powder paint in a variety of colours before the race got underway.

ey for children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Wales. Last year the runners raised around £50,000. This year’s event was a sell out. The Sully-based children’s hospice cares for children like four-year-old Callum Sainsbury, who was diagnosed with Ohtahara Syndrome. When he was five weeks o old, he started fitting. Even Eventually he was having at le least 19 fits a day and waswa hospitalis­ed for nearlynear­l four months. It took almost a year before he was diagnosed with OhtaharaOh Syndrome. C Callum has since been diagnose diagnosed with cerebr cerebral palsy an and scoliosis – curvatur vature of the spine. He can’t walk walk, talk or even sm smile. His m mum, A Amie, said said: “Ty Hafan has been my rock. They help us as a family and make us feel so welcome when we visit. They have helped us so much and we can’t thank them enough.”
