80th Birthday: Many congratulations to a special line dancing friend Maria Evans who attained her 80th birthday on October 8. Perhaps she should have been named hurricane Maria as she is always hurrying about, busy cooking scrumptious cakes and tasty meals for her family, especially her three grandchildren. She enjoys lots of holidays, keeps fit walking and dancing, is always full of wicked fun and will give a helping hand to anyone who needs it. She is a member of St Mary’s RC church and was a great help as a volunteer with the youngest pupils at St Mary’s primary for many years.

Barbara Sherwood, line dancing instructor organised a surprise party on October 6 at the Church Hall and on Saturday, October 7 her daughters Jackie and Teresa organised yet another surprise party with lots of family and friends in attendance at The Mason Arms, Bryncethin which everyone enjoyed.

Maria who normally prefers to make a fuss for others rather than herself thoroughly enjoyed the limelight. She may be in her senior years but is certainly young at heart and her age is just a number. Best Wishes for many more birthdays to this lovely lady. Macmillan Coffee Morning: Many thanks to all those who attended Elaine Beer’s recent Coffee Morning at Laleston vicarage when £383 was raised. Bridgend Communities First: Internet and e-mail skills workshop, October 17, 10am - 1pm at Westward Community Centre, Cefn Glas.
