Concert Date: On October 24, Bridgend Choir embarks on its annual tour, this time to Palma where it will undertake three concerts at Palma Nova, Santa Ponsa and the world famous Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma in support of various charities.

Now is also the time to buy tickets for the choir’s performanc­e on November 24 at Our Lady and St Patrick’s RC Church in Maesteg.

The will be joined by guest soprano Angharad Morgan.

Local History: Bridgend and District Local History Society hold their next meeting this Wednesday, October 11 at 7pm at Carnegie House (former Library) Wyndham Street.

Porthcawl Museum’s historian and secretary Ceri Joseph will entertain members with a talk on the subject of Waterloo.

Membership is £7 yearly and visitors are welcome at £2 per person.

Book Sale: Bridgend Lions Club hold a one day book sale at Westward Community Centre, Llangewydd Road Cefn Glas on Saturday, October 21 from 9am-5pm. Refreshmen­ts are also available. All are very welcome. Bus numbers 68 and 69 run from the bus station and stop outside the centre.

Coffee Morning: The Coffee Mornings at Bridgend United Church, Tondu Road continue every Friday and Saturday from 10am-12noon

Indoor Bowls: New and and experience­d bowlers of all ages are welcome at Ogwr Indoor Bowls Club, Bridgend Life Centre, Newbridge Fields. Free coaching every Saturday 10am-12noon and Sunday 4pm-6pm. Just turn up or contact bridgendin­doorbowls@ gmail.com

History Talk: Next Monday, October 16, the Bridgend branch of the Glamorgan Family History will play host to Dean Powell who will give members a talk on Dr William Price at the Len Evans Centre, Heol Persondy, Aberkenfig at 7.30pm.

Skills Workshop: An internet and email skills workshop takes place at Westward Community Centre, Cefn Glas next Tuesday, October 17, from 10am-1pm. Book with Natalie on 01656 815193 or 07815 527 044 or email: natalie.graves@ bridgend.gov.uk.

Dance Class: An Adult Dance Class will take place at Carnegie House (the former library) Wyndham Street next Thursday, October 19, at 7pm. £6.

Hospital Service: The Hospital Christian Fellowship service for Friday, October 20, will be led by Cornelius Bennema from Bridgend at Hospital Chapel at the Princess of Wales Hospital, at 3pm.
