PYLE & KENFIG

-

STEPHEN Benson-Davison fired 84-15-69 last Saturday to win the Captain’s Bowl and A N Other event at Pyle & Kenfig.

A birdie on hole seven allied to six pars got the job done for him, and he had one shot in hand over Stuart Meikle, who signed for 80-10-70 (two on hole six along with birdies on holes seven and nine).

Ioan Emanuel claimed third place with 78-7-71 and the former football star went birdie on holes seven and 16.

David Jones with 765-71 sunk a putt for two on hole six with a further birdie on the next hole while Ryan Evans came in with 86-14-72.

But the potential round of the day was seemingly coming from low gross scorer Ioan L Consitt, who went out in five under the card on 31.

But with the course record of Ian Booth coming under threat, young Consitt then carded costly eights on holes 11 and 13 to close with 74-2-72.

Seventh-placed Sean David got a two on the sixth green and birdies on the ninth and home holes to record 78-5-73 with Jeffrey Bence registering 8310-73 (two on the 15th).

The other top-10 finishers were Raymond Tucker on 89-15-74 and Jamie Jones 75-1-74 (two on six plus two other birdies).

On the Ladies scene at the Kenfig club, Carole Vaughan last week shot the low gross round to win a Golf Union of Wales medal contest.

Her sizzling numbers were 90-22-68 and the winning card contained three pars, 14 bogeys and a double-bogey.

Claire Thomas came second with 104-29-75 from Mary Morgan 9821-77, Heather Jenkins 101-27-77, Celia Thomas 113-32-81, Cheryl Western 91-8-83 (six pars) and Gaynor Lavelle 10217-85.
