CARDIFF HIBERNIAN . 1 VALE UNITED ............... 7

VALE United made it three league wins on the bounce with a magnificent seven-goal haul against Cardiff Hibernian at Trelai Park in Ely, writes Tony Poole.

They had previously carded victories over AFC Bargoed and Llanharry, but this win in the capital was up there with the best.

And happy Jack Dummett had more to celebrate than most, as his hat-trick took him to the top of the goal chart on eight at their Cabo Roche base in the heart of downtown Bridgend.

It also installed him as early season favourite for the prestigious Vale golden boot – that said there’s a long queue of challengers waiting to defrock him.

Overseas import Steve Gauci, featherweight Gerwyn Teague plus the twin threat of Jim and Rhys Davies were the changes.

Teague masterminded shadow boxing early on, and the class stuff came from Alex Gregory and fox in the box Luke Cox.

The deadlock was broken in the 20th minute when a Jack Dummett dummy set up Danny Hanson to toe-poke home.

Cox then delighted massive away support with the Midas touch in front of goal while Dummett made it 3-0 at the changeover.

Though Vale blotted their copy book in surrendering a clean sheet to make it 3-1, the Cabo Roche aristocrats then took their game to an Alliance level they’ve never previously achieved.

It led to them scoring four unanswered goals much to the delight of purring top cat Lloyd Williams.

During this Vale spell of mayhem Lewis Richards bagged a goal brace for five for the campaign while adoring fans then saluted goal hero Dummett for his finest hour via the sizzling hat-trick.

But travelling back to Bridgend on the air-conditioned luxury coach, Dummett modestly praised canny Scot Jay Tominey and Dick Evans for unselfish assists.

Next up is mouthwatering clash on Saturday with mid-table chums Graig in leafy Corntown.
