THE Vetz regained top spot last week after a 6-3 win over previous leaders Nanty Rug.

The Rug drew first blood in the pairs through John Collins and Andrew Williams, with both hitting 180s, however Mike Huntley and Lee Haines, then Billy Absalom and Rich Watkins put the Vetz ahead. The Ponty boys then won four singles courtesy of Huntley, with his fifth maximum of the season. Andrew Woods, Dai Astley and Alwyn Rees while Butch Williams who was sat on 45 after nine darts ending in 15 and Simon Hill nicked two for the Rug with Rob Owen bagging a 137 finish.

Third-placed Blaen Rugby came home from fourth-placed Social with a 5-4 win thanks to pairs wins for Paul Williams and Dai Burnett, and Peter Jones with Phil Rice, while Chris Packman and Nick Winn won for the Social. Jones, Rice and Kal Jenkins then got three singles for the Garw boys with new signing Shaun Keepin, Packman and Winn, who “nicked” a 180 in a 15-dart leg returning the favor for the Social.

The Nanty Inn gained a 7-2 victory at the Colliers thanks to pairs wins for John and Andrew Hillman, also Mark Lewis and Luke Hemmings, then singles wins for the two Hillman sons, John and Andrew plus dad Chris, Lewis and Stu Angove while Matt Martin and and Andrew Hermolle in the pairs, and Martin in the singles, with a 15 darter, pulled two points back for the Colliers with Wayne short nabbing a 180.

The Odds swept to a 7-2 win over visiting Junction with pairs wins for Peter Owen and Paul Jones, Mike Jacka and Ryan Williams, and Aaron Williams with Lloyd Owen, then singles wins for the two young Owen boys, Jones and Aaron Williams, hitting a 100 finish in an 18-dart leg, while Kurt Parry,with a 17-darter, and Josh Williams rescued two singles for the Blackmill boys.

In the other game, the Con gained a 7-2 win over five-man Blaengarw Hotel with Steve Wright and Ken Swain, then Dai Frowen and Clive Carpy getting two pairs for the Con, and Carpy, Frowen and Rob Shop three singles, while Nathan Evans and Des Stadden, who hit a 132 finish, getting two for the Blaen.

The secretary would like to remind all teams that next Friday is the last game they can register new players, as it is the halfway mark of the season.
