Christmas Craft Sale: On Saturday December 9, from 10am to 2pm, Blaengarw Workmen’s Hall will be hosting a Christmas craft and tabletop sale. Please see their Facebook page for further informatio­n.

Boxing Day Football Fixture: Now in its 16th year, the annual Boxing Day Jimmy Walker Memorial Match, between Pontycymer Rugby Club and Llangeinor Football Club, will be played at Llangeinor Park, with a kick off time of 11am.

Garw Christmas Events: Garw Valley Links Community Church’s Christmas events begin on Wednesday 13th December at 4pm with a Free Tea and Carol Singalong in ‘His Place’ at 107 Oxford Street, Pontycymer. Then on Sunday 17th December join us again at ‘His Place’ for Carols and Crisps at 11am and later the same day in Blaengarw Community Centre at 5.15pm for a Free Tea followed by the 6pm Carol Service. Garw Valley Railway:

The 16th annual Jimmy Walker Memorial Match at Llangeinor Park, with a kick off time of 11am.

With the autumn internatio­nal series in full swing, this means that there will be no local rugby for a few weeks.

Pontycymer are next in league action on December 9, when they travel to The Little Warren ground in Port Talbot where they will face Aberavon Green Stars.

After the game, Pontycymer Rugby Club will be holding their annual Christmas Jumper Day.

Pontycymer Clean Up Crew: Every other Sunday, a group of volunteers from the local area meet up to tidy the streets of Pontycymer.

They have done a great job so far and, with the team now growing, many projects are being planned for the future.

Tickets are now on sale for the Family Day Santa and a Disco, from 12noon-5pm.

The Christmas raffle will be drawn at 4.30pm followed by the Blaen Girls Choir at 6.30pm.

Carol Service: A Commute Christmas Carol service will be held at St. Tyfodwg’s Church Glynogwr on Sunday 10th December starts at 7pm. All welcome and after the service there will be refreshmen­ts.

Trigger: Well this year has been another year for Trigger with all the charity work he does. He has reached so many great charities this year which includes Muscular Dystrophy, Cancer Research, Wyndham Boys & Girls Club and other local Charites to. A big thank you to all the stars of Most Hunted TV series for signing all the T-shirts that were auctioned off and all proceeds given to the charities. Also Trigger would like to say a big welcome to the famous band “Those Damn Crows” for what they are going to do over the up and coming year of 2018. Trigger would also like to say a Big! Big! Thank You to Tim from Bridgend Embroidery Store for everything that he’s done in helping & supporting Trigger in his charity work. So from Trigger and the gang we would like to say THANK YOU to those of you WHO supports us in the shop.

Noson Lawen: What an enjoyable and wonderful evening on Friday 24th November at Christchur­ch Chapel Corbett Street, Ogmore Vale. The concert was in aid of funds for a new organ. It was lovely to see the chapel seats full. Thank you to all who participat­ed for the event, Joe Sendell, Lili Sendell, John from PNP, Jim from PNP, Debbi K, Heather, Jill Trotman, Rev Jason and his wife Debbie Asken. Ogmore Valley Silver Band and for their first public performanc­e The Ogmore Valley Ladies Choir, which included a duet by Leah & Sam. What an outstandin­g performanc­e by all concerned. A big thank you to Heather for organizing the event and to Tim Sendell sorting the music out for the singers and back ground music. Funds raised at the evening amounted to £505:00 at present.
