PHILIP Davies was last week crowned Senior King of Turkey at Coed-yMwstwr.

The former WRU referee whistled around the course to enter the Samuel Bevan snug with a heady 40 Stableford points.

His winning card contained nine pars and the contest was a qualifying event that will reflect on handicaps.

This year’s Senior Section Mulligan champion is Paul Hyder, who won the day last week on the back of 37 Stableford points.

His Mulligan (one discarded shot on both the outward and inward nine holes) victory was on countback over in-form Steve Curtis while thirdplace­d Viv Morgan shot a par round of 36 points.

Third-placed Derek Pitt dug 33 points out of his round to finish one point in front of big gun Nicky Walters and Bob Thomas.

Sixth-placed Wyn Richards hit 31 points to finish one-point to the good over George Kinsey.

He birdied the par-four seventh hole with one of the best slam dunks witnessed at Lakeside.
