Nominate unsung local heroes for mayor’s awards

-

DO YOU know a local hero who deserves an award for being so special?

The Mayor of Bridgend county borough is asking local residents to put forward their nominations of individuals, groups or businesses who are worthy of a Mayor’s Citizenship Award – the local version of the New Year’s Honours List.

Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council, the awards are open to people who live in the county borough, as well as local groups and businesses based locally.

Nominees may deserve recognition in honour of their amazing charity fundraising, an act of bravery, regularly going the extra mile for others, or for the way they’ve put the local area on the map by achieving something remarkable.

The deadline for Mayor’s Citizenship Award nominations is Friday, January 26, and the award winners will be honoured at an event hosted by the mayor at the Civic Offices in Bridgend in March.

Mayor of Bridgend county borough, Councillor Pam Davies said: “This is going to be one of the highlights of my year as mayor. I cannot wait to uncover the stories of those unsung heroes who are making an impact in our local communities.

“I’m very much looking forward to meeting everyone at the awards event, but first of all I need your help. As the deadline is fast approaching, please get your nominations in as soon as possible and give these special people the appreciation they deserve.”
