To start the year of celebratio­ns Rock Choir are performing in concert at the church with special guests Cor Tadau Trisant on Friday, January 26 at 7.15pm. Rock Choir is the UK’s original contempora­ry choir and holds three Guinness World Records, led by the accomplish­ed musician, Stephanie Bailey, with their repertoire of pop, gospel and Motown numbers mixed with rousing Welsh hymns and their movement while singing, their performanc­es appeal to all ages, from children to senior citizens. Rock Choir’s special guests for the evening are Cor Tadau Trisant, a new male voice choir with an ever growing reputation under the direction of Tim Edwards, a Classical Brit award winner with Only Men Aloud. The choir has performed at local and national events, supported many charitable concerts and has shared the stage with many local choirs and artists. with these two choirs this promises to be a very special evening. Tickets are just £5 each and are available from the church on Ewenny Road. The parish office is open from 9 am until 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Telephone 652034. History: Join local historian Mike Clubb for an evening of discussion and rememberin­g on Thursday, January 25 at 7.30pm in Carnegie House. The talk (admission is free) is the second in a series of four talks about the role that Bridgend played in World War 2 and part as a wider heritage project run by Bridgend Town Council and supported by Heritage Lottery Fund. Art Class: A new Art Class for 2018 with tutor Claire Hiett is taking place in Carnegie House (former Library) Wyndham Street. Claire welcomes beginners and all abilities to the class which is held on Thursday’s between 10am - 12noon, and is ongoing throughout the year. The fee is £8 a week per person. Book Sale: The first Book Sale of the year held in Gilead Chapel, Heol Spencer, Coity will be held on Saturday, January 27. Lots of books for all ages to choose from, fiction, nonfiction, cookery, history, craft, and much more. Refreshmen­ts, car parking spaces and lots of friendly people to chat too.

Bridgend Lions Club: are now receiving second hand books for their Annual Charity Book Sale. The drop off points are Sunday mornings at Westward Community Centre, between 10.30am - 11.30am and weekday mornings at Aberkenfig Welfare Hall from 10.30am onwards.

The Hospital Christian Fellowship Service: for Friday, January 26 at 3pm will be led by Owen Batstone from Ogmore Vale. The service as always is held in the Hospital Chapel at the Princess of Wales Hospital, Coity Road.
