Birthday Concert: Mrs Helena Charles will be 100 years old in March. In celebration of this, the Bridgend Male Voice Choir will be holding a concert for her in Tabernacle Chapel on Friday, March 9. The compère for this event will be Huw Edwards from the BBC.

Tickets for the concert cost £5 and can be obtained from members of the choir, Blaengarw and Pontycymer Post Office, or from Eileen Price on 01656 870654.

Pontycymer R.F.C.: The Division Three West Central clash between Briton Ferry and Pontycymer, due to be played on Saturday 13th Jan, sadly had to be postponed following the recent death of a Briton Ferry committee member and club stalwart. The funeral was on Friday 12th Jan and the club had permission from the W.R.U. to postpone the following day’s match as a mark of respect. The rearranged game has been pencilled in for Saturday 10th Feb and has an early kick off of 1pm, taking into account the Wales v England match at Twickenham later that afternoon.

On Saturday, January 27, Pontycymer will travel to Swansea Uplands for an away match. The kick off for this is scheduled for 2.30pm.

Garw Valley Derby: Saturday, January 13 was the date for the much anticipated Garw Valley clash between Carn Rovers and Garw Reserves at Carn Park, Blaengarw. The match was a typical blood and thunder derby game, with nothing to choose from between two evenly matched sides. It ended in a 2-2 draw, with the home side’s goals coming from Jamie Lee Thomas and Josh James, while David Broom and Tom Day scored for Garw. The Man of the Match award went to former Llangeinor star John Lewis. Well done to everybody involved.

Llangeinor A.F.C.: It is incredible that a small village like Llangeinor can play such a vital part in Bridgend and District football. Since September last year, for the first time in their history, the club has fielded three senior teams on a Saturday afternoon, an achievement of which they can be very proud. On Sundays they also have a Sunday league side, plus a huge minis and junior section with more than 250 boys and girls registered to the club. Massive congratulations to everyone involved. from 6pm - 7pm with a charge of £4. Boxing club address is Bethania Row, Ogmore Vale.

Nantymoel Knitters: We meet twice a week at Dinam Close every Tuesday and Friday from 10am - 12noon.

We are always looking for new members and all our efforts are to make things for charity.
