Post Office has to close
THE POST Office at Cefn Glas has been forced to close following the resignation of the postmaster.
A POST Office has been forced to close following the resignation of the postmaster.
It means the branch in Cefn Glas, Bridgend, will remain closed while the Post Office looks at ways of reinstating the service.
A spokesman for Post Office Ltd said the branch closed yesterday, but it will not affect the planned relocation of the service to the Spar shop, which is next door to the current branch on Llangewydd Road.
He said: “Following the resignation of the Postmaster, Cefn Glas Post Office will temporarily close on Tuesday, January 30.
“We know how important Post Office services are to people in Bridgend and we apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.
“Any customers wishing to access Post Office services may do so from any convenient Post Office branch, including Bryntirion Post Office and Dunraven Place Post Office.
“We would like to assure customers that we are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post Office service to the local community.”
A six-week public consultation on the proposed relocation of the Post Of- fice into the neighbouring Spar has just been completed.
The Post Office said that should the move go ahead, the branch would be open for an extra 74 hours and 30 minutes every week, including Sundays.
Regional manager Suzanne Richardson said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.”
She added: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
