PENYBONT .................... 6 LLANGYFELACH .......... 1

PENYBONT Ladies maintained a rich vein of form in sweeping to victory over Llangyfelach last Sunday at the Kymco Stadium, writes Tony Poole.

After carding a 3-3 draw against high-flying Briton Ferry Llansawel the week before, the Bont girls went to town against the outgunned side from the Swansea suburbs.

They hit the mat running with Natalie Rees shooting them in front early doors – and they simply never looked back.

She headed home an Ashton Morgan corner while soon after another flag kick from her went straight in at the far post.

It became 3-0 midway through the half when Shona Davies was played through, and she maintained composure to get the better of the onrushing goalkeeper.

And in the approach to half-time they got yet another goal from an Ashton Morgan corner – Connie Milton powering home a header on this occasion.

Early in the second half, a second Shona Davies strike made it 5-0 before Celyn Rees came on to make a club debut.

Briony De Mott surrendered an unaccustomed position in goal, and celebrated her release in sprinting clear and finishing with aplomb to get the final Bont goal of the afternoon.

Though the Swansea side did manage a late consolation goal, by then the outcome was set in stone.

“This was another fine Penybont performance, but if there are any goalkeepers out there we would love to hear from them,” explained Penybont Ladies boss Mark Evans.
