KEV KICKS OFF

- With Kevin Ellis

IT’S massive congratulations to Newport County on a fantastic FA Cup performance and a great 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur who are in the top four of the Premier League.

Newport took an early lead and were dreaming of going through but Spurs scored a simple goal and earned a draw but credit to every Newport player – they all gave 100% and the manager is still on cloud nine.

Newport now go to Wembley Stadium, temporary home to Spurs, and it will be another huge amount of cash to the Newport club. Hopefully they strengthen the squad and try and build on this cup run and get promotion.

Cardiff City were blown away in the first half against Premiership leaders Man City. They were class all over the field. They had two goals in the first half and it could quite easily have been six but credit to the Bluebirds, who scrambled in defence and were much improved in the second half. They can now concentrate on getting automatic promotion to the Premiership. I think all of Wales are behind them, I certainly I am. C’mon Bloooobirds.

Swansea City drew 0-0 at Notts County – a result they didn’t want as it’s another midweek game to be played and a possibility of more injuries. At least it will be at the Liberty Stadium. Let’s hope we can get three Welsh teams through to the next round. Miracles can happen!

Well, the Six Nations is here again which I think is the best rugby tournament in the world and this year it’s wide open apart from Italy. With the other nations, I think anybody can beat anybody on any given day. Home advantage is massive and Wales have got three home games against the Scots, Italy and the French and the two big guns away, England and Ireland. QUESTION: Do you think Wales can beat Scotland on Saturday?

It’s really important to get off to a winning start and the Scots have improved massively but I’m confident we can win. We have got lots of injuries and the team is going to be loaded with Scarlets players but they are the form team so nobody can moan.
