Foot­ball Open Cup Com­pe­ti­tion: The draw was made re­cently for round two of this sea­son’s Nathaniel Car Sales, Brid­gend and District Open Cup. One of the stand out ties is the lo­cal derby be­tween Carn Rovers v Llangeinor Thirds. This game will take place at Carn Park, Blaen­garw, on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 3, with a kick off time of 2pm.

Birth­day Con­cert: Mrs He­lena Charles will be 100 years old in March. In cel­e­bra­tion of this, the Brid­gend Male Voice Choir will be hold­ing a con­cert for her in Taber­na­cle Chapel on Fri­day, March 9. The com­père for this event will be Huw Ed­wards from the BBC.

Tick­ets for the con­cert cost £5 and can be ob­tained from mem­bers of the choir, Blaen­garw and Pon­ty­cymer Post Of­fice, or from Eileen Price on 01656 870654.

Bryn­garw Coun­try Park: On Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 3, Bryn­garw Park Vol­un­teer Group will be clear­ing the blue­bell woods of bram­ble and scrub, so why not come along to help them cre­ate some­thing beau­ti­ful.

The vol­un­teers are meet­ing at 10am out­side Cedars Tea Rooms. The event will last un­til 2pm, so please bring a packed lunch and make sure to wear suit­able cloth­ing and footwear.

Tools and train­ing are pro­vided for all vol­un­teer events. All chil­dren un­der 16 must be ac­com­pa­nied by an adult.

Pon­ty­cymer RFC: With this sea­son’s Six Na­tions com­pe­ti­tion upon us, ev­ery Wales match will be shown live on the big screen at Pon­ty­cymer RFC and all are wel­come to come along and en­joy the at­mos­phere.

On Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 10, Pon­ty­cymer rugby club will travel to Briton Ferry to play a re­ar­ranged league game. The match will kick off at 1pm, giv­ing play­ers and sup­port­ers
